Eye-Antigen-Specific T Cell Responses in Uveitis
Dr. Paley is working to understand why rheumatology patients get eye inflammationInflammation is a normal part of the body’s defense to injury or infection, and, in this way, it is beneficial. But inflammation is damaging when... and what that can teach us about what’s going on in other organs.
Dr. Paley says the most common questions he gets from patients are why and how they got their autoimmune diseaseAny disorder in which loss of function or destruction of normal tissue arises from humoral or cellular immune responses to the body’s own tissue constituents.... and whether or not their children will get it.
“I hope that the work we’re doing together will help answer those questions for those patients so that we can target the disease earlier in the disease process.”
