Every patient has a unique perspective that can inform rheumatology research. Dr. Blazer shares that researchers may ask questions unique to one particular patient, the information gathered can lead to improved outcomes for others in similar situations.
Dr. Blazer’s research program is focused on lupusLupus is a chronic (long-term) disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body. It’s an autoimmune disease, which means that... in people of African ancestry. She often recruits patients she sees in the clinic to participate in her research studies. As those patients share more information and biological samples, she is able to take the information back to the lab to help answer important questions.
